School Library

Holy Cross' Library Information Centre assists students in developing the information skills necessary to become life-long learners. The Library provides a variety of resources to support our school's educational program and assist students in developing independent learning skills.

Our library has been a part of PVNC's 21st Century Library Program since 2012 and support student learning in the classroom, library or individually through desktop computers, iPads, Chromebooks and on-line databases to name a few ways.

Current electronic information sources and a range of print materials are available to students throughout the day. Reading for pleasure is encouraged by displays of popular paperback and hardcover titles. The Library also contains a unique collection of religious and spiritual materials. Subject teachers and a teacher-librarian are available to assist students in their research. Parents are also welcome to use our school library.

Students may search our print and electronic collections by clicking on "Destiny" below or to the right from this page or from their Home Page when working on the school computer network.

White Pine Book Club

The White Pine Book Club begins in late fall and runs until May. The club promotes the enjoyment of reading and makes students aware of quality Canadian young adult books. Teens at all grade levels read the best of Canada's recent young adult fiction. There are 10 nominated Canadian young adult fiction books. Monthly meetings are held to discuss the books; door prizes even available at some meetings. In April, students across the province vote for their favourite book; Holy Cross is a registered member of the Ontario Library Association, so our votes count. The most popular book is selected for the White Pine Award.
